The Macon County Local Emergency Planning Committee held their monthly meeting Monday night.
Those members discussed any emergency situations that happened in the county during the past month. Bylaws and new members were also installed to the committee. Those members were elected at the annual meeting which was held in June. The LEPC also discussed grants that are available. Those grants go towards purchasing hazardous material equipment for first responders and also education classes.
"That's what gives Macon County our four or five first responders their knowledge base of how to respond to hazardous materials," said Michael Shively, Macon LEPC Chairman.
The next Macon County LEPC meeting is scheduled to be held on August 11. That meeting will take place at the Samaritan Hospital at 7 p.m.
