On Wednesday, the Howard County Sheriffâ??s Office, with assistance from the Missouri Highway Patrol Drug Division and Crime Control, made an arrest for the 2011 homicide of Jon Spurling.
Zack Jefferson, 34, from Excello, Mo., has been charged with Murder in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action.
Spurling was found dead in his rural home west of Harrisburg on August 15, 2011. He died of a gunshot wound. When the leads grew cold, Spurling's family and friends started a reward fund to find his killer and a Facebook page to support their efforts.
A family member told KTVOâ??s sister station, KRCG, the suspect may have been questioned early in the investigation. Jefferson was married to a woman who was previously married to Spurling. The family believes a jealous rage may have been his motivation.
Zack Jefferson is being held without bail.
