Fourth and fifth graders at Macon Elementary School gave $250 to Shoes from the Heart.
Shoes from the Heart is a project Donnie and Cindy Bonuchi started in 2012 to help needy families.
The organization collects money from the community to buy brand-new shoes for children in need.
Fourth and fifth graders at Macon heard about the organization and decided to have a bake sale to raise money.
They say they feel good about their kind deed.
??It felt really good because a lot of kids need new shoes and it feels really good to help out in the community,?? said student, Max Quinn.
The students made two different types of trail mix, rice krispies, cookies and puppy chow.
The kids and adult helpers bagged almost 500 items for the bake sale.
