Macon residents vote yes to sales tax

Macon residents voted yes to extend the half-cent capital improvement sales tax.

Macon residents voted yes to extend the half-cent capital improvement sales tax. The tax has been collected for the last 10 years and was coming up on sunset.Macon City Administrator Allan Muncy said the half-cent capitol improvement tax is used for parks and storm water purposes.

??We've got several things we want to work on,?? Muncy said. ??A pool built in 1934 we need to decide on how we're going to improve. We constantly have request for better baseball fields and different things like that. (In) our parks we continue to put new modular play equipment in and new shelter houses. We have a lot of projects like that that we won't have any problem finding things to utilize the funds for.??

Muncy said this time the tax has no sunset, so the city can make long range plans for different recreational and storm water projects that need to be done around town.
