People gathered in Ottumwaâ??s Central Park over the lunch hour for â??Lunch in the Parkâ?? put on by Main Street Ottumwa on Friday.
This is a collaborative effort between Main Street Ottumwa and area restaurants.
Each week a different restaurant will be featured. On Friday, south Ottumwa Hy-Vee served the meal.
For only $6, you can have a nice lunch outside all while supporting local businesses.
$4 will go back to the restaurant and the other $2 will be split between Main Street and a local organization. The organization featured on Friday was Ottumwaâ??s Parks Department.
â??Really the part of the purpose of it is just to make people think of downtown Ottumwa as a place to go and this park in particular but then we'll probably look at ways in which we can promote other businesses. So for instance, we know that one of the things we've been promoting for the last month or so that's that thereâ??s 30 downtown businesses that are open on Saturdays and lots of people don't think about that,â?? said Bob Untiedt, Main Street Ottumwa Director.
â??Lunch in the Parkâ?? will run throughout the summer. For more information, click here.
