Major road construction set to soon get underway in Bloomfield
Wed, 09 Apr 2014 20:15:22 GMT — A main road in Bloomfield will soon be looking like new again.Franklin Street is now very deteriorated. Repairs have been made over the years, but now it's at the point where it needs to be completely replaced. Bidding for the project is set to begin next week. It??s estimated to cost between $2.5 and $3 million. Public Works Director Ted Hamilton says work on Franklin Street will be paid for with city bonds and loans. "The roads deteriorated pretty bad, and we've been patching it, and it's to the point where we just need to be replaced, so it will be complete reconstruction," Hamilton said. Storm sewers, sub-drains and new gutters will also be installed. The project is scheduled to be complete by December weather permitting. Hamilton says you can definitely anticipate the street work to be finished by next spring.
