An Ottumwa man accused of seriously injuring a toddler is scheduled to stand trial in September.
Dustin Armstrong, 19, pleaded not guilty last week to four charges of child endangerment and willful injury. He entered the plea in writing and requested a speedy trial. That trial is now set for September 10.
According to Ottumwa police, on April 22, officers responded to a residence on Woodland Avenue to a report of an unresponsive two-year-old child.
The child was airlifted to Iowa City for treatment of his injuries.
Armstrong was arrested in June after a lengthy investigation. Investigators allege the child was harmed after being left by his mother in the care of Armstrong.
He is being held on $50,000 bond.
