Man charged with attempted murder learns trial date
An Ottumwa man charged with attempted murder has learned his trial date.
Randy Salter, 33, of Ottumwa, will be in a Van Buren County courtroom on June 11 to face one count of attempted murder and one count of criminal mischief.
The trial is expected to last four days.
Salter was arrested Oct. 13 after police responded to a report of shots being fired at a home on Bridge Street in the tiny Van Buren County hamlet of Selma.
Salter allegedly fired shots into the home occupied by Randall Ritz, of Selma.
Three other men were arrested as a result of the incident including Randall Ritz. According to online court records, Randall Ritz has pleaded guilty to one count of manufacturing marijuana.
Austin Ritz, 29, of Oklahoma, faces charges of willful injury and Richard Ritz, 53, of Oklahoma, faces charges of assault relating to the October incident. A trial is scheduled for May 21 for those men.
