Man injured after falling through kitchen floor

Emergency crews responded to a call of a man trapped in his kitchen floor after it collapsed.

Around 11 a.m. Tuesday, Adair County emergency responders were called to a home outside Kirksville for a report of a man trapped from his waist down after falling through his kitchen floor.

We have learned the victim was Brian Kline, 25, of Kirksville.

It happened at a home on Highway 11 west, just south of Kirksville. We were told that Kline was alert and breathing when responders arrived.

Kline was transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville and then transferred to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

A hospital spokesman told KTVO that as of 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, Kline was still being evaluated in the emergency room.

A family member said Kline can't feel his left leg.

She said the kitchen floor in the home they rent had been getting weak in the area near the kitchen sink.

Kirksville Fire Department and the Adair County Ambulance personnel were on the scene.
