Marceline man seriously hurt after car goes airborne

A one-vehicle crash overnight seriously injured a northern Missouri man.

It happened at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Highway 36 and Macon County Route C in Bevier.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a car driven by Joseph Wieberg, 25, of Marceline, was traveling east on Highway 36.

Troopers said he veered off the right side of the highway, became airborne and slammed into an embankment.

Wieberg suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville for treatment.

The online crash report states that Wieberg was not wearing a seat belt.
