Meet 15-year-old Jason Miller of Bloomfield. Farm life has been a part of him due to his family??s strong background in agriculture. He??s been around all the different types of animals, his number one favorite are goats. He owns about 71 of them and considers them a part of his family.
"Their personalities, they are like household pets. They follow you around. They are loveable creatures with good personalities."
Jason is a member of the Davis County 4-H and FFA groups. He has shown his goats at the Davis County and Eldon Fairs and has won both Grand and Reserve Champion titles. Jason says behind all that is a lot of tender loving care and responsibility.
"You just have to feed, give them water, a nice facility, plenty of space to let them roam and let them have grass to eat as well."
Jason has also shared some usual but memorable moments with his goats.
"We had this goat named Max, he liked Mountain Dew and sunflower seeds. He liked his hay and feed. It was just a snack for him."
Jason wants to continue working in the agriculture field and working with his prized group of goats.
"It's fun and a great experience and you learn a lot of stuff. I like animals and agriculture teaches you a lot about them."
Jason??s other hobbies include working and taking care of cattle. He hopes to go to college in the future and study animal science.
Congratulations Jason on being this week's Ag Kid.
