A few Heartland residents got to play a good game while meeting new people as well.
The volleyball teams at Kirksville High School and Truman State University held a Mad Hatter Volleyball Tournament Saturday morning at the Kirksville Primary School.
About 30 individuals signed up and their names were all put into a hat and drawn to be put on teams.
Organizers did this to help members of the community meet and play the game along with high school and Truman students.
"There's been a lot of people that I didn't know that I've been able to get to know. Everyone gets to know others. I'm happy with the turnout," said Event Organizer Amy Fuller.
The money raised from Saturday's event will go towards funds for the high school and Truman volleyball teams.
There are plans to do another tournament in the fall.
