Milan FFA wins Top Chapter Award

The Milan FFA team attened the 2013 Missouri FFA Convention and takes home an award

A group of Heartland students received a Top Chapter Award.

Nearly 30 junior and senior members of the Milan FFA serves as role models and tutors to more than 450 younger students.

While in Columbia for the 85th Missouri FFA Convention, the group placed 11th out of more than 300 chapters in the state.

Only about 10 percent of the state chapters are honored with this top chapter designation each year.

Morgan Gray, a Milan FFA member said "we get it from doing all these activities throughout the year. It's student-written. I helped write it."

The FFA members also had the opportunity to prepare for cooperative and individual life skills.

"And it takes a lot of hard work to go," said FFA memeber Jessica Hoover. "You have to study the dairy cows, judge them, take a test, we didn't have that many practices to go to because there's not many around here, and it takes a lot of hard work."

The Milan FFA team prepared for an entire year for the convention and they tell us, next week they'll be getting ready for the 2014 convention.
