Milan, MO - The Milan Interfaith Food pantry had a big month providing around 14,000 pounds of food to those in need in Sullivan County. The monthly distribution comes from a wide range of contributors from the Food Bank of Central Missouri to local churches and organizations of the community.
The pantry has received larger shipments the past few months which has helped the increase in need in the county. Volunteers make the pantry possible by unloading trucks, loading boxes for families, and delivering to elderly.
â??My favorite part is just making sure that when someone says they need food and most people will call at 4 o'clock and they don't have anything for supper that night to make sure they have food that night,â?? said Janice DeRyke - Food Director.
For those are in need and missed out on Thursdayâ??s distribution, you can call the organization at (660)265-3071 and still get food according to your family size.
