After six years of planning it was finally time to re-dedicate the new football field at Milan high school on Thursday night.
School superintendent Kim Johnson helped cut the ribbon at Cal Hubbard Field.
The field is a source of pride for many Milan residents, who helped to fund the project.
The Wildact band and cheerleaders performed for the crowd prior to the ceremony.
Ultimately Johnson says it was a community effort that made the dream a reality.
"Lots and lots of hard work, we had the board that supported this from the very beginning about six years ago then we had community members and then our administrators and our staff, everyone was behind us 100 percent and most importantly was just the fact that we had folks that just came to us and said what can we do to help you," said Kim Johnson.
Benefactors who donated were recognized as part of the celebration.
The festivities are leading up to the homecoming game on Friday against Scotland County.
