The Missouri Association of Museums and Archives held a two-day conference in Kirksville beginning on Friday.

The conference brought around 75 archivists from across Missouri to take part in panel discussions. Discussions ranged from how to preserve archives from a flood to how to make history more engaging and attractive to audiences.

"Nobody wants to read boring records, but if you can find something about a grandfather that was in there -- you didn't know he served in the military or if you found Ella Ewing shoes. She was the tallest woman. They're here in Missouri," said president of the association Candace Sall.

Zhuzumkan Askatbekoga, a Fulbright Scholar at the event, originally from central Asia, who currently is at the University of Missouri in Columbia, said she plans to take what she has learned back home, where archiving is not as popular.
