Missouri digging out from snowstorm

Missouri is digging out from a winter storm that spread from one end of the state to the other, leaving about 8 inches of snow in the Kansas City area.

The storm that hit Tuesday forced school and business to close around the state and the cancellation of dozens of flights at Kansas City International Airport. The National Weather Service says Kansas City recorded 7.9 inches of snow, Columbia had 5.4 inches, St. Charles had 2.3 and St. Louis had 4.4 inches.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports several highways are snow covered Wednesday, including Interstate 70 in most sections.

The forecast for Missouri calls for little or no snowfall Wednesday and Thursday, with low temperatures dropping into the single digits and highs in the teens in many areas.
