Missouri State Attorney General Chris Koster had a chance to visit Kirksville Tuesday.
Koster took a tour of Truman State University and met with business leaders in the community to talk about economic development.
Early Tuesday evening, he spoke to residents at The Shrine Club about issues such as the spike in propane prices and how it has hurt the state and families this winter.
"The heating costs have spiked up so what we are trying to do is present a report back to the Missouri Senate to give them a sense to why this has occurred, how inventories and exports have affected the price speculation that has occurred this winter to give the legislation some options on how to deal with this going forward," Koster said.
Koster and Missouri Governor Jay Nixon announced an investigation into the cause of the rise in prices in late January after consumers filed complaints on how the prices went up to five dollars in just a month.
Koster hopes to have a final report into the investigation soon and believes prices will smooth out as the weather improves.
