Mobile meth lab discovered, two arrested
Early Tuesday morning, Kirksville police officers conducting extra patrol of the boat ramp near Hazel Creek located a parked van. Officers made contact with the occupants of the van and both occupants attempted to hide inside the van. Officers found items outside of the van believed to have been used in making methamphetamine. They could also see numerous items used to manufacture meth in plain view inside of the van .
After a search of the van, officers located several containers of suspected methamphetamine along with numerous items used in the manufacturing process.
Stewart W. Bunch, 26, Kirksville, and Brandi N. Molett, 26, Kirksville, were arrested and charged with manufacturing and possession of a controlled substance. They are both being held in the Adair County Jail on $75,000 cash only bond.
â??This does not appear to be the first time that the process had been completed due to the amount of suspected methamphetamine that was recovered and the amount of other evidence that was found,â?? said Detective Steve Feeney.
This was the third methamphetamine bust by the Kirksville Police Department in the last three days.
The city owns Hazel Creek and much of the surrounding property and Kirksville police patrol that area.
