MoDOT considers changes at deadly intersection
The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking your input on safety improvements to an intersection that has been the scene of a number of fatal crashes.
MoDOT will be holding a public meeting later this month to share information about improvements to the intersection at U.S. 63 and route M at Atlanta.
Several months ago, MoDOT had added rumble strips on Route M and flashing red lights to the stop signs on Route M on both sides of Highway 63 to draw drivers' attention to the fact that they needed to stop.
And now MoDOT is proposing installing J-turns at the intersection.
A map showing the proposed design will be on display at the meeting, and MoDOT staffers will be available to answer any questions.
That public meeting will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013, at the Atlanta C-3 School Library to share information about improvements to the intersection at U.S. 63 and Route M at Atlanta.
A brief presentation will be given at 5 p.m. to those in attendance.
