The Missouri Rural Enterprise and Innovation Center, also called MREIC, is back open to serve the public. They are a non for profit group and have two main goals for the area.

"Nearly 100% of net new business growth in our economy comes from businesses in their first five years of existence. So if we want to grow jobs in Kirksville, we need to plant lots of seeds. We have all the tools it's just a matter of providing bright entrepreneurs the resources they need to succeed to successfully launch businesses in this area," said Dan Hamlet, Executive Director for the Missouri Rural Enterprise and Innovation Center.
