MSO Executive Director Bob Untiedt

Main Street Ottumwaâ??s Central Park Cinema is back and here to stay for the summer.

The first film of the season was shown Saturday with the family-friendly Disney movie Planes. New this year are more sponsors, which means six movies will be shown this year instead of four. Now MSO is coordinating the activities and food at the Central Park movie nights with the theme of the film. Executive Director Bob Untiedt estimates 300 people attended Saturday night.

"Broadly, you know, our mission is to make downtown a more vibrant place, and this is just one of two dozen things we do in a year that's part of that stuff, but the thing that makes it happen you know, you get dozens and dozens of families and it's a lovely thing to just see all the folks that are here with their kids," he said. "Everybody's well behaved, and it's just a pleasant evening.

The next movie will be Cars on June 7th at 8:30 p.m. For a full list of Central Park Cinema events, click here.
