KPD releases name of motorcyclist badly hurt in Kirksville crash

UPDATE: Kirksville police have now released the name of the motorcyclist seriously hurt in a Tuesday afternoon crash in Kirksville.

Deputy Chief Steve Farnsworth told KTVO Tuesday evening that the motorcyclist is Donnie Mullins Jr., 39, of Kirksville.

Mullins' motorcycle collided with an SUV just after noon on Tuesday on Business Highway 63 south in Kirksville.

He was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center and then flown to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries.

A hospital spokeswoman told KTVO Tuesday evening that Mullins is listed in critical condition.

UPDATE: A badly injured motorcycle driver was flown to Columbia after an early afternoon crash in Kirksville.

Just after noon on Tuesday, emergency crews responded to the intersection of Business Highway 63 and Highway 11 West in the south part of town.

A motorcycle and an SUV collided at that intersection.

Kirksville police told KTVO the SUV was eastbound on Highway 11 when it tried to cross Business 63 and pulled into the path of the motorcycle.

Deputy Kirksville Police Chief Steve Farnsworth told KTVO the SUV was driven by Ashley Ball, 17, of Smithville, Missouri.

It appeared the motorcycle struck the SUV in the driver's side door.

Both drivers were taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The 39-year-old motorcycle operator was then flown from there to a Columbia hospital.

At this time, his name is not being released.

Multiple injuries were reported from an afternoon crash that shut down highway traffic south of Kirksville.

Just after noon Tuesday, emergency crews responded to the scene of a collision at the intersection of the Highway 63 business route and Highway 11 towards Brookfield, Mo. A motorcycle and an SUV collided in the interchange, and initial reports indicated both drivers had been injured.

Police redirected traffic on Business 63 south until the scene was cleared about an hour later.
