      Murder suspect gets trial date

      An Ottumwa man facing a First Degree Murder charge learns when he will face a jury of his peers.

      Christopher Johnson, 32, is scheduled for a jury trial beginning May 3, 2011. He remains behind bars under a $200,000 cash only bond while awaiting trial.

      Johnson is charged in connection with the stabbing death of his wife, 40-year-old Anessa Johnson on June 27th.

      Following the stabbing, Christopher Johnson was arrested in West Burlington after he crashed a car.

      Anessa Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene of the stabbing.
