      Nationally known political analyst speaks at Truman

      Mara Liasson spoke at the campus of Truman State University.

      Liasson is one of the top national political analysts in the U.S. and serves as the correspondent for NPR and political contributor for FOX news. Her track record in reporting and analyzing is known by many, and she shared some of her knowledge Saturday evening.

      Liasson spoke with aspiring young journalists at Truman and answered questions about what she does.

      "My first words of wisdom is just know what you want to do and keep your eye on that, keep your eye on the horizon and you'll get there. I mean knowing what you want to do is 99-percent of life," Liasson said.

      She also addressed the importance of reading and knowing American History.

      "Read, listen and figure out if it's anything that you want to do and then try and do it," said Liasson.

      She discussed how social media should be used. and not abused.

      Liasson spoke with Truman students as part of the Holman Family Distinguished Speaker Series.
