KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - A heartland hospital is honored for helping to boost the blood supply.
Northeast Regional Medical Center was awarded by the American Red Cross for its blood.
The hospital held five blood drives last year, collecting more than 260 pints. Each pint can reach up to three people, so the hospital helped around 800 patients with the effort. A dozen donors were recognized at today's plaque ceremony.
??People up here want to donate blood and they want to help meet the needs of their friends and neighbors, folks who need blood and we get a tremendous amount of support from the medical center and the executive staff here as well as all the employees of the regional medical center,?? Missouri/Illinois CEO of Blood Services Scott Caswell.
A blood drive followed the ceremony. If you would like to donate in the future, visit redcrossblood.org.
