NEMO Job Fair sees record applicants
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
Some Heartland residents now have new job prospects thanks to what's known as northeast Missouri's largest job fair.
The 'NEMO Spring Job Fair' was held Thursday afternoon at the NEMO Fairgrounds in Kirksville. Organizers told KTVO that despite the rainy and cool temperatures, a record turn out of job seekers and applicants was reached.
A variety of tables set up included manufacturing, health services, education, communications and retail industries; which had representatives on hand ready and willing to accept resumes and applications.
Justin Hirniak of the Missouri Career Center says the job fair is an exciting event designed to help people see what different jobs are available in northeast Missouri. He says that job fairs such as this one make the task of job searching simpler.
"It's a one stop shop. If you are looking for a job or looking for employment, instead of doing that over a span of two or three weeks and trying to carve out time in your busy schedule, you can take a half a day here and hit up 60 entities that are hiring."
Some employers held interviews and hired on the spot. Others have plans to do call-back interviews within the coming weeks.
