New activities in store for Kirksville summer

Summer will soon be underway in Kirksville, with a few new activities.

Those summer events will kick off Friday June 6th with an Art Walk. During that event, businesses on the square will be featuring different artists and their works of art. That will begin at 5 o'clock and is free to the public. Following the walk, is the first performance of the 'Summer on the Square' concert series. Concert performances will begin at 7 p.m. on the Courthouse lawn. Kirksville business owners and the Chamber of Commerce hope that these events will attract more shoppers to the Square.

"That does bring people out to the downtown area that might not come another time, and so maybe while they are there, they will pop into some Missouri businesses," said Sandra Williams, Kirksville Chamber Executive Director.

Fresh summer produce can also be picked up at the Farmer's Market held every Saturday in town. Community members are also in the process of gearing up for the 'All American Red, White and Blue Festival' to celebrate the Fourth of July.
