New construction is underway at the Kirksville School District's outdoor learning area.
A new bridge and walkway is in the works to connect the pavilion to the hike bike trail, behind the high school.
Teachers use this space to help promote environmental education to their students.
But theyâ??re hoping that this beautification process will attract community members to the area.
â??Our hope is that people will start using this area, the pavilion, the picnic tables, bring their kids here, have time this summer to be able to check it out a little bit,â?? said Karen Keck, Kirksville High School Teacher.
The bridge is expected to be finished this week.
Next, the official ribbon cutting at the bridge will take place this Friday at 1 p.m., weather permitting.
