New digital cameras to be installed in city hall to broadcast meetings

As mentioned on Tuesday, the camera system which broadcasts the Ottumwa City Council meetings and candidate forums inside city hall will be getting an upgrade in the coming weeks.

The council approved the purchase of new digital equipment that will be installed within the chambers. The new state of the art equipment will allow Ottumwa Public Information Officer Tom Rodgers to present any meeting within the chamber in an easier way.

â??These cameras will essentially be modern digital type cameras, replacing some outdated cam-corder type cameras. This should improve our picture quality a great deal and also allow us to do a few things with the images; looking forward, we could possibly stream the meeting on the internet or do other applications with that video,â?? Rodgers said.

ECS, Electronic Communication System from Davenport, Iowa will be replacing the current system at a cost of about $7,600.
