Fri, 11 Apr 2014 20:44:37 GMT — A series of new educational Saturday workshops are coming to Ottumwaâ??s Market on Main. From 2 to 3 p.m. Ottumwa resident Marshall Dias will be teaching participants how to make rain-collection barrels. Instead of water from the tap or faucet, you can use rain water you've saved on your landscaping. Dias says the do it yourself project can save you money and water. Store bought rain collectors have an average retail price of $70 to $80. "So the purpose of a rain barrel is to take the runoff water from your gutters and store it, and it's great to be used in your flower beds," Dias said. "It's kind of Mother Nature's sweet nectar if you will." He says by the end of the workshop you will have the knowledge and tools to DIY at home. Dias will be raffling off rain collectors at the end of the seminar as well. The next workshop at Market on Main will be yoga. That class will held on Saturday, April 19th at 9 a.m.
