Tue, 13 Aug 2013 21:30:02 GMT — A Heartland county is launching a new community information service designed to warn residents during emergencies. The Macon County Emergency Management is allowing residents to sign up for their service created by NIXLE LLC to deliver trustworthy and important neighborhood public safety notifications by web, e-mail or cell phone. "From any computer anywhere to send out an alert to emails, phones, mobile based browsers, anything," said Michael Shively, Macon County Emergency Management Director. "Once you sign up for the service, and once we hit the button to submit, you'll get it." Shively says you won't be bombarded with unnecessary texts and alerts. He says you will only get a notification for the most urgent matters.
If you're a resident of Macon County and wish to receive these alerts, simply send the text message MACONEMA to 888777 or CLICK HERE.
