New evidence unfolds in existing murder case

Court documents say a 37-year-old man once suspected in the 1990 killing of a northwest Missouri farm wife told a friend he "got away with murder." The purported statement by Brandon Hagan came as investigators continue to examine the fatal shooting of Cathy Robertson in Chillicothe.Hagan dated Robertson's oldest daughter but was never charged with the crime. Livingston County investigators instead charged Robertson's neighbor, Mark Woodworth. Woodworth's 1995 conviction was overturned on appeal, but he was again convicted in 1999 and is serving life in prison.A 2009 Associated Press investigation prompted Livingston Sheriff Steve Cox to take a fresh look. His interview of Hagan's friend is included in a request made Thursday for a new trial by Woodworth's lawyer.
