New Heartland Hobby Lobby building taking shape
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
The new Hobby Lobby in Kirksville is now taking shape.
A huge crane was lifting the building's pre-fabricated concrete walls into place on Monday.
Construction crews on scene told KTVO that the 360-ton crane was extended 12-stories into the air.
The concrete panels range in weight from 60,000 to over 70,000 pounds each.
On the other side of the site, a separate crew was pouring concrete and making the store's parking lot.
The construction crews are from Florida and Alabama -- with some local businesses and workers too.
There were about 20 workers at the site today, who said they had been there since 7 a.m.
They were also about five heavy machines running, including a uni-loader, a track hoe, and a bulldozer.
The target opening date for the Kirksville Hobby Lobby is this September.
