In addition to being able to get Sushi, Filipino food, and Hispanic food, people in Ottumwa can now also get Swiss treats. Suzanne Tanner is opening up â??Suzanneâ??s Swiss Bakery.â??
She moved to the United States six years ago and began cooking authentic Swiss food when she missed the food from her native country.
Neighbors and friends became regular customers and convinced her to open up a small business in her home on Davis Street in Ottumwa. The customers say the food is a little different than what they are normally used to, but havenâ??t had anything they havenâ??t liked.
Tanner says that cooking is a meaningful experience for her.
â??Yesterday when I was baking the cookies, the pie and the bread I was reminded when I was a child when my mother used to bake with me and show me how to bake and it brought back so much memories,â?? she said.
The bakery is open on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tanner says she can make pies, cookies, and breaks any day though if customers order by calling her at 641-740-7391.
