New medical technology unveiled at 'Business After Hours'
The Kirksville area Chamber of Commerce's "Business After Hours" is a monthly event here in the Heartland, and was hosted Thursday night at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
â??We're bringing the community into the hospital to get them more affiliated and more involved in what we do here at Northeast Regional Medical Center as a physician group and as an embodiment of healthcare for the community itself,â?? said Dr. Brandon Jenson.
One of Thursday's main agenda items is the introduction of a Daâ??Vinci robotics device This device is said to be a newer, more innovative form of technology used by doctors at Northeast Regional. It has a greater visual field and can allow for more hands-on practices.
Doctors say this robot is a great advantage for surgical patients.
Also on Thursdayâ??s agenda, Northeast Regional Heart Center will officially present its new hours of operation.
â??That's really what were hoping that the citizens will find through this program and that they'll know that starting October 28th, we're going to be here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Either I will be here or an alternative doctor who does the same kind of work will be here on one weekend a month, but otherwise there will always be someone here, 2 in the morning or 9 in the morning, if you have a heart attack, this is the place to come,â?? said Dr. Mark Shima.
