New school year brings new superintendent
With the new school, comes a new superintendent for one Heartland school district.
Dr. Damon Kizzire started the job as superintendent for Kirksville on July 1. Kizzire is a native of Lawson, Missouri and comes to the district with 23 years of experience in education as both a teacher and administrator.
The new superintendent says he is excited to advance his career in an outstanding district. He has also spent the past few days meeting with teachers and administrators, discussing plans for the upcoming school year.
"This will be my second full week and things have been going well. One of the things that I'm probably most impressed with is the people that I've been working with, so I'm very excited about this opportunity," said Dr. Damon Kizzire.
Dr. Kizzire replaces Superintendent Pat Williams. Williams worked with the district for 31 years and served as superintendent for the past eight.
