A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for a new sign along Alternate Route 63 in Kirksville Wednesday morning.
The new â??Welcome to Kirksvilleâ?? sign is located at the intersection of Illinois and the new Highway 63.
The sign and installation cost $7,500 and took several months to complete.
â??This was paid for by tourism lodging tax dollars and we hired a local builder. Terry Baker from Baker Outdoor Advertising put the sign up, so we kept that money in town and supported a local business. I'm really pleased to have the Welcome to Kirksville sign up,â?? said Kirksville Tourism Director Debi Boughton.
Boughton would also like to thank the Missouri Department of Transportation for allowing the city to put the new sign on MoDOT's right of way.
