New superintendent named for Kirksville School District
KTVO was able to catch up with Dr. Kizzire Wednesday afternoon as he toured the Kirksville school buildings with School Board President Jeff Brawner.
While meeting many of the students and staff, Dr. Kizzire's energy and passion for education was abundant. Brawner says that's one of the traits that stood out most to the School Board during the interview process.
Brawner also said Dr. Kizzire brings very solid credentials in academics, finance and leadership that should lead the district in the right direction.
After getting an up-close look at the schools, Dr. Kizzire told us he's excited to get to work.
"As we've toured the district, looking at each one of the buildings, each one has its own unique characteristics that are just outstanding, and it just makes it that much more exciting to think about the possibilities and opportunities in the future," said Dr. Kizzire.
Dr. Kizzire will replace outgoing Kirksville R-III Superintendent Pat Williams, starting July 1st.
Kirksville R-III School Board Jeff Brawner has announced the hiring of the next Superintendent for the Kirksville School District.
Dr. Damon Kizzire, a native of Lawson, Mo., has been hired to replace outgoing Superintendent Pat Williams. Williams will be retiring when his contract expires in June.
Dr. Kizzire brings 23 years of experience in education as a teacher and administrator. The last 12 years he has been employed by the Richmond R-XVI School District.
We will have much more on this story coming up on KTVO News.
