No bond reduction for man charged in child sex case

      An Iowa man facing sex related felony charges in Adair County has been denied a bond reduction.

      James Cathey, 42, of Cherokee, Iowa, is charged with four counts of attempted sexual misconduct involving a child under 15 years old. He is being held in the Adair County jail under $10,000 cash only bond.

      According to court papers, Cathey is accused of exposing himself over the internet to what he thought was a 14 year old girl. However, the girl was actually a member of the Kirksville Police Internet Crimes Taskforce.

      Cathey is scheduled to appear in Adair County Circuit Court on July 23.
