No change of counsel for Ken Turner's Wapello County trial

Ken Turner was back in court Wednesday for a hearing in Wapello County.

Last month, the Bloomfield man managed to avoid a conviction on felony sex abuse charges. But now the attorney who helped him beat those charges wants off his case.

Curtis Dial told a judge Wednesday morning that he wanted to be removed from the case because Turner can't afford to pay him. Dial both won and lost his motion. Judge Kirk Daily removed Dial from the case, but then he re-appointed him to defend Turner at the state's expense.

That means Dial will remain at Turner's side for the duration of his court appearances.

Next up for Turner is an April 14 trial on a felony stalking charge.
