Nominations are being accepted for 2013 Missouri silver haired legislature

Nominations are currently being accepted for the Northeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging board of directors and delegates to the silver haired legislature. Board members must be a resident of the county for which they are elected and have an interest in aging issues, needs, and programs. Nominations will be accepted at the NEMO AAA office or at the senior center throughout their sixteen county service area through April 12.

â??Well the silver haired legislature it's a model legislative body. It consists of seniors, a person 60 and over, volunteers that are willing to advocate on behalf of older adults in Missouri and we hold elections every year for these positons. We have senators and representatives,â?? said Pam Windtberg.

Elected board members serve a three-year term and need to be at least 60 years of age. The silver haired legislature delegates hold a 3-day session each October at the capitol in Jefferson City to consider legislation of interest to older Missourians.
