A Heartland college wants to bring some local classes to the area.
Next Thursday September 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the North Central Missouri College out of Trenton will be hosting an open house. The event will be taking place at the Missouri Career Center in Kirksville.
The open house will feature information on how individuals can earn a college certificate through NCMC in welding skills, manufacturing skills, or industrial maintenance skills in just 16 weeks.
K-REDI Director Carolyn Chrisman this will help bring more industrial jobs and work to northeast Missouri.
"It can be a really good chance for a lot of people to be trained for jobs that we know are out there in our current industries. That would be a good thing," Chrisman said.
For individuals who qualify, tuition may be available free of charge through a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration.
The deadline to sign up to begin a program this fall is September 19.
