One northeast Missouri FFA chapter was recognized for their hard work.

Joel Sevits was part of a 12 member group from the Novinger FFA that attended the 85th Missouri State FFA Convention in Columbia last week.

The group competed in categories such as farm management and dairy.

Sevits won the award for Area 3 Star in Agribusiness for his lawn care business, S&R Lawn Care.

Two state degrees and three proficiency awards were also given to the Novinger Chapter.

Sevits said going to the state convention is always a rewarding experience.

"I think it's a good time to go down there. Everyone gets to go down there. Everyone gets to go. There's so many FFA kids in one building, and all has the same name in their jackets. It's just an all around good time," Sevits said,

Sevits, who is a senior at Adair County R-I Schools, said he will miss being part of the group.

Novinger FFA Advisor Burnie Schneiderheinze told KTVO that this was one of the best years yet for the FFA chapter at the convention.
