Novinger gets two awards for bettering itself

One northeast Missouri city is celebrating a big accomplishment.

The city of Novinger received top honors from the Missouri Community Betterment Organization on Monday evening.

Novinger received 1st Place in Youth Group and 1st Place in Community Betterment Overall.

In order to win the awards, the city had to keep documentation on projects they did to help make Novinger a better place to live.

For Mayor Jeff Dodson, this is a big honor for the city and its residents.

"It shows the commitment within this community and our individuals. We put our hands into a good work. We've done a lot of different projects, and we were rewarded. I'm so thankful for all the folks that were a part of this," Dodson said.

The Missouri Community Betterment Organization gives awards every year to communities across the Show-Me State that work hard to improve their environment.

This is the third year in a row Novinger has won awards from the organization, but this was the first year the city has come out on top.

Dodson thanks everyone in Novinger and outside Novinger who helped make this possible.
