Elected officials gathered Tuesday to discuss the proposed budget for the Bruce Normile Juvenile Justice Center located in Kirksville.
The center offers 16 residential beds for youth who cannot remain in their homes and 14 detention beds for delinquent juveniles.
The hearing allowed the officials to discuss questions and potential concerns about the budget items.
The budget funds multiple facets of the juvenile justice center.
??Well it's for legal expenses, it's for the operation of the Bruce Normile Juvenile Justice Center, food, there are some deputy juvenile officers that are paid for by the county,?? said Judge Russell Steele, Presiding Judge, Second Judicial Circuit.
Along with those uses, the budget will also go towards utilities, gasoline and anything else needed to operate the $3.1 million facility.
