One arrest made in Bloomfield car theft case

One suspect is in custody in connection with one of over a dozen auto thefts that have taken place in Davis County this week.

18-year-old William McCarroll of Ottumwa was arrested this morning and is facing one count of first-degree theft.

McCarroll is accused of stealing a truck owned by Jason Skaggs of Bloomfield.

McCarroll is being held in the Davis County jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.

Davis County Chief Deputy Josh O'Dell says the investigation is ongoing and that officials from the Davis County Sheriff's Department are continuing to follow up on leads they have in the case.

More arrests and charges are possible in connection with the rash of car thefts that have taken place in recent days. As many as 18 vehicles have been reported stolen over the past week.
