Two car crashes happened in the same location within five minutes of each other Friday afternoon.

They both happened in La Plata at the intersection of Highways 63 and Highway 156.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the first crash happened at 3:30 p.m. when an SUV driven by Amy Gladbach, 30, of La Plata failed to yield to a white Ford Focus driven by a St. Louis man.

Gladbach ran into the side of the Focus, causing it to slide into a ditch.

The driver of that car received moderate injuries.

The patrol says Gladbach then left the scene.

She was located by law enforcement a short time later.

About five minutes after the first crash, there was a minor rear-ender crash at the same location.

The highway patrol says it was caused by rubber-necking.

Investigators said an SUV driven by a St. Louis woman rear-ended a car driven by Viveon Harper, 52, of Macon.

Harper received minor injuries.

We're told there were good-hearted residents on the scene giving emergency responders water as they worked in the extreme heat.
