A pilot has died in the crash of a small plane as it took off or shortly after taking off from an airport in southeast Iowa.
Authorities say the pilot was alone in the plane when it crashed a little before noon on Sunday just east of the Fairfield airport.
The pilot's name hasn't been released. The single-engine plane is owned by a Fairfield man.
The crash is being investigated.
The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to be on the scene on Monday.
