One hurt in Ottumwa crash

Deputy Sheriff Todd Evans told KTVO the driver of the Saturn will likely be cited for failure to stop in a safe and sure distance/Beth Waldon

A father and his child are OK following an afternoon crash in Ottumwa Tuesday.

Just before 1 p.m., Wapello County Deputies responded to the southbound lane of Business 63, just north of Ottumwa, where authorities say a Saturn Ion rear-ended a semi.

The driver of the Saturn was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

His child riding in the back seat was not injured in the crash. The semi driver and one passenger are also OK.

Deputy Sheriff Todd Evans told KTVO the driver of the Saturn will likely be cited for failure to stop in a safe and sure distance.

The crash slowed traffic in the southbound lane for about a half hour.
